A gastroscope provides a detailed view of the gastrointestinal tract, including the esophagus, pylorus, stomach lining, and duodenum. While the procedure is primarily used to investigate ulcers, it can also help diagnose other gastrointestinal conditions. For the gastroscopy, horses should be fasted for at least 16 hours and without water for 2 hours prior to the procedure. The horse will be sedated and securely placed in stocks for safety.
